Macroscopie – Sporophores grégaires à pieds parfois coalescents à la base. Chapeau charnu, épais, convexe à marge incurvée puis étalée, à centre plus ou moins déprimé, finalement infundibuliforme, 6-12 cm diam.; revêtement mat tomenteux, glabrescent, rose lilacin, plus pâle et un peu orangé à la marge, puis orangé à centre nuancé de rose, lie de vin et brunâtre, finalement pâlissant et alors entièrement orangé rosâtre; marge lobée crénelée puis lobée. Hyménophore décurrent, à lamelles d’abord rose orangé à orange vif près de la marge puis rose clair nuancé d’orange clair, peu épaisses, de longueur différente, fourchues, faiblement interveinées à fines veinules transversales simples. Pied 5-9 × 0,9-2,5 cm, cylindracé plus ou moins irrégulier, plein, lilas rougeâtre clair, jaune vers la base puis pâlissant, finalement concolore au chapeau. Chair ferme, blanche lavée de jaune vers la base du pied, de rose et d’orangé dans le chapeau. Odeur faible. Goût piquant. Sporée blanche ou pâle.
Microscopie – Spores longuement ellipsoïdes, subcylindriques ou arquées, 8-10,5 × 3,8-4,8 µm.
Ecologie – Ectomycorrhizien, associé à Gilbertiodendron dewevrei; forêt dense sèche.
Macroscopy – Sporophores gregarious with stipes sometimes fused at the base. Cap fleshy, thick, convex with a curved then spreading margin, with a more or less depressed centre, finally infundibuliform, 6-12 cm diam.; pileipellis dull, tomentose, glabrous, lilac-pink, paler and slightly orange at the margin, then orange with a pinkish, wine-red and brownish centre, finally fading and then entirely pinkish orange; margin lobed, denticulate then lobed. Hymenophore decurrent, with lamellae first orange-pink to bright orange near the margin, then light pink with light orange shading, not very thick, of different lengths, forked, weakly interveined with fine simple transverse veinlets. Stipe 5-9 × 0,9-2,5 cm, cylindrical, more or less irregularly shaped, solid, light reddish lilac, yellow towards the base then fading, finally concolorous with cap. Flesh firm, white with yellow tints towards the base of the stipe, pink and orange in cap. Odour weak. Taste pungent. Spore print white or pale.
Microscopy – Spores long ellipsoid, subcylindrical or arcuate, 8-10.5 × 3.8-4.8 µm.
Ecology – Ectomycorrhizal, associated with Gilbertiodendron dewevrei; dry dense forest.
Distribution connue / Known distribution – R.D. Congo (Heinemann, 1959).
